FT234 Baby Owl Takes Flight by Debbie Radtke
Fiber Trends Pattern FT234
Design by Debbie Radtke
Try your wings with this sweet baby owl. A strand of fine mohair held with the wool tweed give this baby owl a soft, downy look.
Finished size is controlled by your yarn choice and the amount of felting. .
Our baby owls are about 6½” (17cm) tall.
Use a DK or worsted weight yarn that felts easily held with a strand of fine mohair. Owls are show in Tussock 8 ply held with a strand of Mist Mohair. Beak and feet are knit in Perendale wool. 1 skein of each will make the owl.
Needles: 16” (40cm) circular and a set of double pointed needles in US size 9 (5.5mm).
Note: If you cannot find orange owl eyes you can make them by painting the backs of clear animal eyes with acrylic paint in your choice of color or by placing colored felt behind the eye. One of the owls in the photo has painted clear eyes and they look exactly like the purchased orange eyes.
