102LC Charlotte's Easy Lace Shawl
Description↑
Fiber Trends Pattern 102LC
Design by Lily M. Chin
Hands-down, one of the easiest lace shawls you will ever knit.
Make it in any size. This shawl has the added advantage of growing in width faster than a standard triangle shawl.
Sizes and Yarn Requirements:
Use any yarn, any weight. You are not limited to only very fine laceweight yarns, even chunky mohair works well with. Adjust needle size accordingly to match your yarn choice.
Lily's Shawl required 775 yards of an Icelandic laceweight knit on size 6 (4 mm) needles. It measures 37" deep by 75" wide.
The background of the photo is our cotton shawl, enlarged to show stitch detail. It measures 42" deep by 86" wide, was knit on size 6 (4mm) needles and used 1000 yards of Cotton Fine from Brown Sheep Co.
We also made a very large (47" deep by 103" wide) shawl on size 11 (8 mm) needles using 630 yards of mohair.
Needles:
Size according to your yarn.
Aim for a very loose and lacy gauge, perhaps 4 needle sizes or more up from what the yarn may normally call for.
Gauge:
Approximately 18 sts = 4"in lace pattern, after blocking, on a size 6 (4.0 mm) needle.
As noted above, this shawl may be worked at any gauge.
